It’s Friday. I think.

Every so often Chrome does an odd thing and shifts a tab into a new window.  I don’t know why but I suppose I’ll get used to it.

There are currently three ongoing things vying for my limited attention.   I’m still working my way through a heap of Skye photos and trying to get them all uploaded to the skye group on Flickr.  Since the other people I went with are also still uploading more and more fabulous pictures, this involves a lot of distraction and wandering off through other views of the Island and thinking, “Oh I wish I’d taken that” and such like.

Then there is the rapidly approaching family party at the end of June. (Oops, July ~ thank you Sorrow : ) I still can’t remember who’s coming and who needs a bedroom and who hasn’t even been invited yet (I wish they were all on email and I really wish all those who are would reply promptly  - or even at all!)

And then there’s the blog and all my lovely blog friends who deserve a lot more attention than they’ve been getting lately.

Not to mention the alarming prospect of the band recording a CD.  (which is a fourth thing of course).  Not that this is a big deal.  We’ll be doing it in our dining room over a week or two and our sound engineer/keyboard player will be doing the recording.  and he assures us that he can copy good bits and substitute them for bad bits and do all sorts of clever stuff.    Nonetheless, it’s one thing to bash out the rudiments of a tune in a crowded noisy hall full of people (who aren’t listening anyway because they’re too busy trying to remember the dance to listen to us) and quite, totally, another thing to play those same tunes with all the notes in the right order and have them on a CD for people to actually listen to!  I have been, in the past, quite a good fiddle player.  But not a natural.  I had to learn it very hard and then keep practising.  As soon as I stop practising, I lose it!  Currently, it’s pretty well lost in the mists of good times gone and, let me think, I have oh!  at least three days left before the first recording session!  to recapture 20 years of practise.  Hmm.  Not going to happen.  Meanwhile, at previous practices, Barney and Max are prone to saying “that went quite well I thought”.  Well they aren’t listening to me is all I can say.  What they mean is “I/we played that quite well didn’t I/we.”  And anyway, ‘went quite well’ isn’t really what you want on a CD is it!!!!

I put some photos up yesterday evening, intending to post this last night but forgot to save the draft.  When I came to upload I found they weren’t there.  Pooh!

Do it now then.  (I’ve realised that Chrome, being a grownups browser, doesn’t seem to say “you have unsaved changes”  when you shut it down so I’ll have to be a bit more on the ball!)

Herb Borage

Herb Borage.  I don’t know what good it is apart from having flowers that you can put in ice cubes.  But it’s so pretty!  I just hope the flowers last until I’ve finished taking pics of them as I wouldn’t want to miss out on the ice cube delights :)

I haven’t just spent the last two days in the kitchen with my borage (though I spent more time there than normally, having got up so early yesterday, I went out and came back by the time I sometimes get up!)

These two were taken the evening before on walkabout round the Downs above the Thames Valley at Streatley.  (That is a drive-stop-leapoutabout – not a lot of walking really)

And this was on the way home from the early morning.  Since dawn is currently around 5 am, I didn’t quite make that and my earlier photos were taken when the sun was getting well into its day and the clouds were already gathering.  It was a nice walk along the banks of the Thames but not brilliant for early morning light.  It’s on the lower slopes of The Ridgeway.

Now it’s time to do something useful.  I’m not sure what but there must be several things I ought to be doing.  Better have some coffee to stir up those memory cells : )

And what lovely photos of the flowers….. I’ll have to go looking to see what this one is all about.

    And the others–ohmygosh…..

It amazes me how gorgeous the every day things get made by ‘you who holds the camera’…..

It still amazes me how lucky I am to see such gorgeous everyday things Mel :) Unfortunately, I was so busy taking pics that I forgot to give my borage flowers any water and they’ve all drooped a bit! I’m hoping they’ll recover so I can freeze them :)

Thank you Sorrow. Now I know what to do with my borage if it doesn’t recover from me forgetting to give it water! I really ought to try and grow some again. (though I’m spectacularly bad at growing things! Maybe I shouldn’t : )
